I have logged over 1000 miles of running with Gigi and over 35 years of running on my own but what is amazing is that there is always some new running tips she enlightens me with from post workout advice, to pre race nutrition, to race strategies. Gigi has a post doctorate in always finding the silver lining. No matter what plateau you find yourself in-she pumps you back up outlining all of your past achievements making you feel like a hero.

Gigi Barclay is the most determined runner I know. Not only does her
determination shine through as she chases and conquers her own personal
record with each race, but more importantly Gigi is determined to bring the
love of running to anyone who is willing to lace up and join her for a run.
Gigi challenges any runner, at whatever ability level, at first simply to
encourage them to run more often, next to take on a 5K, then to continue
their climb up the racing ladder. Gigi does this 52 weeks a year, leading a
group of ever changing runners each Thursday, and talking us through another
lap.

I am not a hardcore athlete. I tried running in high school and later in college, and gave up both times. I admired runners for their strength and agility, but figured they had some natural ability I didn't have. A few years after college work had become tedious and life was dull. On a whim I registered for a half marathon to jump start an afterwork gym routine. I asked Gigi for some advice, and she immediately sent me a training schedule. I ran 2 miles my first day of training and thought I was a lost cause. I stuck with it though, and was overjoyed to complete a 10 miler just two months later! What was remarkable was how doable my runs were becoming, and how much longer I could hold out. I ended up finishing within the top 10% of my age group in the Vancouver, BC half-marathon! It was challenging, but totally doable-- and the greatest rush ever! I actually consider myself "a runner" now and am already registered for my next half marathon!

I've been running for 10 years, and running with Gigi for 3. Through ups and downs, stressful schedules and amazing breakthroughs I have enjoyed every minute! Gigi knows and loves all aspects of running, and has an incredible amount of information and energy to share. This is true whether you're a new runner or have done lots of racing. But the most important thing for me is that running with Gigi is FUN! Her attitude is contagious - you will find yourself looking forward to getting out there and being glad that you did.
